In 1847, Pierce and family arrived in NY under the name
ROCKFORD from Ireland by way of Waterford.  By the 1860 Pendleton, KY
census they went by the name Rashford, finally settling on Rachford some
years later.  There is a James Rachford who shows up in Kenton in later
years.  I have never learned whether he is the James above or a differnt
man.
