* On 15 Feb 1855 John B. Tutt, a carpenter, born ca 1831 in Woodford Co., KY., married Alice Clark(e). The marriage took place at the home of the bride's father (John Clark(e)) and was performed by R. Gillespie of the Methodist Church South. Witnesses were: John Clark(e), John Crumbaugh and what looks like L.D. Monroe or possibly L.D. Ben Monroe. John and Alice moved to Cheney's Grove Twp., McLean Co., IL between 1855 and 1859.

* Army records show John B. Tutt became a first lieutenant in Company F, 116th Illinois Volunteer Infantry on August 11, 1862. He was age 31, married, born in Woodford County, KY, a carpenter, '11" in height with dark hair, hazel eyes and light complexion. He was mustered on September 9, 1862 in Decatur, IL and died of erysiphilis at the camp hospital, Young Point, Louisiana on 26 January 1863. Military pension records show John and Alice Tutt's children as: John C.B. Tutt, b. 1/28/1858 Mary Lucy Tutt, b. 12/4/1859 d. 4/28/1863 Ella Livingston Tutt,b.2/22/1862 d.10/11/1864
