Documentation: 1. Metcalfe County Kentucky Death Certificate 31531 Note that the informant was Henry Garrett, probably his son. James C. Garrett was a married, white male who was 88 years, 9 mos. and 12 days old when he died of heart disease and rheumatism. He was a farmer. 2. Photocopied portion of a will filed in Metcalfe County by James C. Garrett provided to me by Ruth Garrett Word. 3. 1880 Census from FamilySearch.org. Note also that James C. Garrett signed his will with an \"X\", and his spouse is listed as Perlina in the will, even though the 1880 census lists his spouse as Susan A. There is some discrepancy as to James C. Garrett\'s birth year between the date on his death certificate (1828) and the date on the 1880 census (1831).
