OBITUARY - COLLINS
William Porter Collins, son of James Mallory and Parmelia Ann Collins was
born September 4, 1859 at Macon County, Missouri and departed this life
at his home in Wallace, Kansas, on July 10, 1946 at the age of 86 years,
10 months and 6 days.
He grew to manhood in Macon County, Missouri. On August 13, 1885, he was
united in marriage to Martha E. Hickman. To this union, three children
were born; Wilbur, Rosa and Elmer. Both sons preceded him in death.
He and his wife made their home in Missouri until 1887 when they came
west and homesteaded in Thomas County, Kansas. He lived on their
homestead until he had used most of his strength in hard toil and labor,
fighting a fight all pioneers had to. In 1939, he retired and moved to
Brewster, Kansas. And later in 1941, he moved to Wallace, Kansas where he
resided until death.
He had been sick for several years, never complaining and always cheerful,
patiently waiting for the time to come when all suffering would end.
He was a faithful and loving companion and a devoted father. He leaves to mourn
his death, an aged wife of the home, one daughter, and son-in-law, a
daughter-in-law, and two brothers one sister; 14 grandchildren and 23
great-grandchildren, several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

(manager's note: names of surviving relatives were removed from above obituary.)
