Emma appears on the 1880 census for Todd Creek Township, Johnson County,
Nebraska.  She is 14 years old and is living with her parents.
1910
Clarence and Emma V. appear on the 1900 census for Island Grove Township,
Gage County, Nebraska, dwelling number 196, family number 196.  He is 39
years old and is working as a farmer.  She is 35.  They have been married
17 years.  There have been 12 children; 10 still living.
1912
At the time of her father's death in 1912, Emma was married and living in
Lawton, OK
1930
Clarence W. and Emma V. appear on the 1930 census for Lake Township,
Comanche County, Oklahoma, dwelling number 15, family number 15.  He is
68 years old and is working as a farmer.  She is 63.  There are 2
children shown.  Also living here is a son-in-law, William Bergan, 39,
and a granddaughter Agnes Wagner, age 11.
OBITUARY - Lawton Constitution 11/21/1941
C. W. Metcalf, 79, former county commissioner of the Western district for
8 years, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at home in Medicine Park after an
extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lawton Funeral home
chapel with the Rev. John Lamb, pastor of the First Presbyterian church,
officiating.
The board of county commissioners adopted a motion today offered by Pete
Wynn, commissioner of the western district, that the court house be
closed at noon Saturday out of respect for the former commissioner.  Mr.
Metcalf was elected on the Republican ticket first in 1920.  He served a
term and was defeated.  In 1924 he was elected again and served until
1928.
He was born at Glenwood, Iowa 4/7/1862 and lived a while in Nebraska
before coming to this county in 1901.  Survivors besides his wife include
5 sons, Allan, Owen, Clayton, Streeter, and Leonard, all residing in the
county; 3 daughters, Mrs. Lester Bishop and Mrs. W. Wagner, both of this
county, and Mrs. William Berger of Brooklyn, NY; 4 brothers, 20
grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.  Burial will be in Highland
Cemetery.
Information from the work of Bob Reynolds (Rootsweb) provides the
following note:
Clarence was County Commissioner in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma.
He came to Gage County, Oklahoma in 1901 by covered wagon.  In 1902 he
brought his wife and family from Nebraska.  His farm was the last stop
before crossing the reservation.
OBITUARY - Lawton Constitution, 8/1/1945
Mrs. Emma B. Metcalf, 78, a Lawton 1901'er, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at
her farm home on Star Route near Medicine Park of an illness of 3 years.
Born 8/22/1866 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was married to Clarence W.
Metcalf and they came to Comanche County from Nebraska in 1901.  Mr.
Metcalf, former Western district county commissioner, died here in 1941.
Mrs. Metcalf was a member of the methodist church.
Surviving are 5 sons, Owen C., Clayton W., Allen B., Streeter A., and
Leonard B. Metcalf, all living in Comanche county, and 3 daughters, Mrs.
Dora Bishop and Mrs. Fay Waner, also residing in the county, and Mrs.
Edna Schmidt, Long Island, NY.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Lawton funeral home chapel
with Rev. A. M. Wallock, Congregational minister officiating.  Burial
will be in Highland Cemetery.
