(Co. K Ky Cav). Civil War Service Records show a Squire A. Goad serving in Co. G, 1st Indiana Cavalry, and in Co. K, 12th Kentucky Cavalry (U.S.). Our Squire Goad's tombstone lists the Kentucky service, but it is also possible he served another enlistment accounting for the Indiana service. I based this on the fact that to-date I have found no other Squire A. Goad mentioned in Goad records I have searched. Squire A. Goad enlisted as a private on 20 August 1861, in Co. G, 1st Cavalry Regiment Indiana. Squire A. Goad enlisted as a private on 13 August 1862 in Owensboro, KY and enlisted in Co. K, 12th Cavalry Kentucky (U.S.) on 17 November 1862. This Squire received a disability discharge on 15 February 1863 at Camp Nelson, KY. He died in Warrick Co., Indiana and is buried at Freedom Cemetery, northeast of Boonville, Indiana (personal visit to Cemetery 14 June 2003).
