HUSBAND NOTES: James SHI/SHY
In the Hancock Co. Ga. Tax Return for 1825 , Capt. Bullington's District,
James Shy is listed as having 450 acres of land on Buffalo Creek
in
Hancock Co. and 202 acres of land in Houston County. James Shy is listed
on the Ga.
Hancock Co., census for the years, 1810-1850.
When James Shi/Shy died in 1853, apparently it was thought that no will
existed. Curry Dickson, husband of daughter, Elizabeth, was named
Administrator by
the Court August 1, 1853. He administered the estate until August
13, 1855
when apparently a will was found which named John S. Latimer
one of the
Executors and Curry Dickson turned it over to him as ordered by the
court.
The will of James Shi was signed August 22, 1839 and filed for probate
August
13, 1855, John S. Latimore. His heirs were, wife; son, John;
daughters,
Peggy, Nancy & Sally. He left nothing to Elizabeth Shi Dickson
as he had already
advanced to her and her husband a "fair portion of my estate".
Apparently
Jane Shy predeceased him in death. There is no mention of her
in the disbersements.
