NOTES:
Joseph, a twin, was a circuit-riding Methodist preacher and farmer.
He died from typhoid fever just months after the death of his youngest son,
Gooly. Joseph and Louisa's marriage is recorded only in the family Bible.
No official county record has been found to date. Louisa never remarried and
lived alternately with her children until her death at the age of 92.
Louisa and Joseph are both buried at Powell's Chapel Methodist Church cemetery
near Villa Rica, along with their infant son. Their graves are marked simply
"J.J.P.," "L.E.P.," and "G.R.P." Sarah Payne and John McWhorter are buried
at College Park Cemetery near the Atlanta Airport. Coie and Annie Hyde Payne
are buried at Carrollton City Cemetery. Robert Stephen Payne was married a
second time but his wife's name is unknown.
