Documentation:
Samuel M. Payne is found on the 1900 census in MO and is single. He
is next
found in 1910 in Arapahoe County, Denver, Colorado. He is married
to a Julia last name
unknown. The census states that they had been married 9 years
and this is his first marriage
and her second. They had two children. The eldest called Willie
was "slow" and had
difficulties. The second, my grandmother was Mary. She
married first Alexander Moeller, then
Ore K. Davis, and then Harold Miller. It is said that Samuel
made leather luggage or trunks.
He bought a farm in Weld county and on bringing home supplies was robbed
and beaten. He later
died from this. Date unknown but shortly after 1920. Julia
was ill and later died. Mary
married early to a ver older Mr. Moeller who was from Russia.
Any information that may help us
connect this man to his Georgia relatives will be greatly appreciated.
He states that both his
parents were born in Georgia as well. Thank you,
