Have checked microfiche of NC Marriages. One Wm. HARPER m.
Elizabeth COOPER 7 Oct 1803
in Stokes Co. and Samuel HARPER m. Elizabeth MOSS in Warren Co. 30 Aug
1799. The family
surname DELANEY appears in Stokes Co. William HARPER of Stokes Co., NC,
sold land in 1818 that
had belonged to Elizabeth's father, John COOPER. Zephaniah HARPER , father
of William, sold
land to William in Stokes in 1824. There was still a William HARPER in
Stokes as late as 1838.
Do not know if this man was the husband of Elizabeth who came on to Harris
Co., GA. Need to
check 1830-1850 census of Stokes Co., NC. Have not done so.
