* The Robert Tate family settled in HALL CO., GA prior to 1830 where they were living at that time. His father visited him, died there and is buried in a private cem. on the old Robert Tate Plantation. He was a farmer, owned a large plantation and slaves. He died 1860 bur. Methodist church cem. Gainesville, GA. His will, 11 June 1860 and 10 July 1860 to carry out provisions of his will he had David Garvin, Robert F. Mays, Will Landrum and Samuel Stephens appraise the negroes for distribution. Will was executed in Hall Co., GA. No probate date, to wife Nancy Ch: William D., James M. Miles G., Thomas H. Penelope A. Shockley, Martha F. w. of B. B. Putnam, Mary E. wife of Wiley N. Blackwell divorced. Ex. Miles G. and Thomas H. Tate, sons. Witness A. B. and A.C. Barker and W. N. Stephens.
