* Solomon Reese was a carpenter and miner in Dahlonega, Georgia. After the death of his wife, he placed his children with relatives and headed to the goldfields of California. He died en route along the banks of the Platt River in Missouri.
* The family were Methodists.
* A cousin, James Reese, who was a Methodist minister wrote in his autobiography that Solomon was described being of noble disposition and even tempered.
* Solomon Rees and his wife have many descendants in Georgia.
* The family name was spelled Rees by earlier generations.
