Documentation:
* John Jr.'s brothers include Washington and Jacob (who John Jr. & Eliza's last four children were living with in 1860). Also, Jacob's son married a daughter of Gabriel Rainwater. William Jackson also married a daughter of Gabriel Rainwater, and William was the son of John Jr., a brother to Jacob. It seems reasonable that John Jr.'s father was John Gossett. According to the Madison County, Georgia census records, John Gossett, Sr. was the only Gossett family in Madison in 1820 and 1830. John W. Jr. was listed in the 1840 census, along with Jacob his brother. Also, the only Gossett's in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery (for Madison County) were John and John W. And I am positive that William Jackson Gossett's parents are John W. Gossett (this would be Jr.) and Eliza Calvary, since he and his brothers were listed with them in the 1850 Madison County, GA census and then William and his brothers were living with Jacob in 1860 in Cherokee County.
* In Madison County, Georgia, dated August 18, 1855, there are estate files for the deceased John W. Gossett. I believe this to be John Gossett, Jr., since by 1860, his younger children were living with his brother.
