* May be George Washington Clarke, born between 1807 & 1812) son of Christopher Clark of Elbert Co., Ga. No confirmation.

Patience M. DENNIS

* The 1850 Hancock Co. Census shows Patience as a single parent, with seven children and her mother living in one household. Her husband has died or otherwise left the family.
* The 1860 Hancock Co., Census shows Patience as being 45 years old and with $250.00 worth of Real Estate. All children still at home.
* 1870 Census shows Patience in household of son, John D., with Sarah, age 23, and Georgia, age 21.
* 1880 Census shows Patience in household of son, John D., age 68 yrs.
* All 5 of Patience's sons served in the Confederate Army. Bedford died at Yorktown, Va. The other 4 survived but Warren died after the War from wounds received.
* Patience Dennis Clarke was a seamstress during the Civil War.
* According to his Military record in the Civil War, Benjamin J. was born in Oglethorpe Co., and possibly the other children were also but there is no record of their birthplace.

* In 1880 was renting 17 acres of land in the 118th district (Non-Populatin Census)
* Benjamin J. Clarke had auburn hair. Three of his children had auburn hair, Anna Maude, James (curly) and Benny. (Louise D. Worsham)

* Sarah died as a young women. She was 23 in the 1870 census and living with her mother and sister with Uncle John Clarke. She was not present in the 1880 census.

Researching: Clark(e), Dennis, Dickson, Dudley, Dunn, all of whom were in Hancock County, Georgia by 1800.
