NOTES: On April 18, 1824 in Hall Co., GA, a William CARVER married
Elizabeth STANSELL (or STANCIL). I believe that this is "my" William
and Elizabeth CARVER, but I haven't yet proven it.

This family flip-flopped across the GA-SC state line frequently, as
did many other families of that time. William owned land in Rabun
Co., GA, but I believe his estate may have been probated across the
state line in Oconee Co., SC.

Willis CARVER, William and Elizabeth's youngest child, may have
fought in the Civil War as a Private in Company E, 24th GA Infantry,
CSA.

I have been unable to trace four of the six children of Elizabeth
and William CARVER. Chances are, they married in (then) Pickens
Dist., SC, which would make them hard to find as SC didn't require
officially kept marriage records until the 20th century. The task
is made even more difficult by the fact that there were numerous
other CARVER families in that area of SC (Williams's relatives), and
they all used similar names for their children.
