* Levi Bates Bowers enlisted May 1862 at Griffin in Spaulding Co., Ga. He was a private in Capt. Huies Company G of the 44th (Inf. Regt.) of the Ga. Volunteers commanded by Col. Robert A. Smith. There were several discrepancies in Levi's service records concerning the date of his enlistment and the date of his death. (There were several men named Levi Bowers and one of them was also in the Civil War and I believe this is where the discrepancies originated). Delilah Bowers appeared before the court in Fayette County, Ga. along with Howell Hubbard and Richard Dorman, a Justice of the Peace, on 17 April 1863. They appeared with her on her behalf, testifying that they knew Levi Bowers and Delilah, proving she was the widow of Levi Bates Bowers. Delilah Bowers wanted the Government of the Confederate States to issue the back pay that was due to Levi Bowers for his service in the war Compiled Service Records of Confederate Ga. of the 44th Infantry, A-B, Microfilm No. M 266, Roll No. 465.
* John James Bowers filed a petition for Letters of Administration on the Estate of Levi B. Bowers on 31 July 1918. Minutes of the Court, Ordinary's Office Bk. 1916, Pg. 14, No. 2. Administrator's Bond on 17 Sept. 1918. Adminisitrator's Bond Bk. B, Pg. 301 John James Bowers was appointed administrator of the Estate of Levi B. Bowers. Application to Sell Land on 07 Oct. 1918 Levi Bowers had 50 acres of land more or less in the N.W. corner of Land Lot No. 62, in the 1293rd District of said County, bounded on the No. by K. B. Banks, on the West by A. D. Banks, on the So. by J. J. Hubbard & K. B. Banks, and on the East by B. H. Scott and known as the D. J. Owens old home place.
* Sale Bill of Property of Levi B. Bates. The property was sold on 03 Dec. 1918 to N. W. Gable for $3,500.00 Various Checks from the Brooks Bank paid to J. J. Bowers for $786.62, Mrs. S. E. Griggs for $786.62, Mrs. Nannie Cobb for $786.62, Mrs. M. J. Smith $47.00. All checks dated 16 Dec. 1918 except last one which was dated 17 Dec. 1918.
