Documentation:
1. Work of family member: Lillian Eason (now deceased)
2. Family tradition and information passed along from generation to
generation
3. Ancestry.com (some info is correct there and some is not)
4. Census records when available
5. Marriage records for Tattnall County, Ga.
6. Grave stones in cemeteries
7. Will of William Eason
8. Other misc. sources.
The family moved from North Carolina (William\'s father, George moved
in late 1700\'s)
to South Carolina to the Orangeburg District, it is believed. Records
were burned in the
Civil War for much of the area, but the Barnwell District records were
preserved because
they were transferred to another location outside the area. The Orangeburg
District changed over
the years, and the family may have resided, due to the changes, in
the Barnwell District. More information
re: this subject will be available in my upcoming Eason book that traces
the descendents and possibly the
ancestors of this Eason family. Due to destroyed records, the vagueness
in some of the records available,
and the fact that many Easons were named similarly (Moses, William,
Abner, George, Abraham...) it
may not be possible to definitively locate all the Eason ancestors
in our line. I know several differing
versions of who they may have been, but wish to have proof to conclude
accurately the correct lineage.
If anyone has proof I need, please contact me. (I believe these Easons
are connected to the Easons in the
Fayette County, Ga. area from an ancestor in North Carolina in the
1600\'s-1700\'s, but am not absolutely
certain. Any Fayette County \"relative\" who has this info should also
contact me if proof exists. (I have
found some possible discrepancies there.) Thank you to anyone who has
found stories, wills,
Bible records, court cases, land deeds, etc. that will contribute to
my efforts.
