NOTES: I have five different stories about where John Cawley was
born. He was born
either in Ireland or Jefferson County, GA. It was He moved his
family to Richmond
County after 1830 as he is listed in the 1830 Burke County
Census with wife and four
children and in the 1840 Richmond County Census with a wife and
six children. He
married a widow with two children, but they did not take the
Cawley surname.
