* Folks Huxford's Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia Vol. I, IV, VII. Huxford's Vol. IV, page 222 stated, "Mr. & Mrs. Obediah Osteen were members of Jones Creek Baptist Church in Liberty (now Long) County, Georgia. Obediah Osteen died about 1818. Mrs. Osteen remained a member until 1826 when she removed with all her children except Ailsy Osteen Chancey to Ware Co., Georgia, then soon after to Hamilton Co., Florida. James Osteen and two of his sisters later became residents of Suwanee County, Florida.
