Documentation:
* Robert Taylor Canon served the Confederacy in the War Between the States. He died in a yellow fever epidemic in Galveston and was buried there. His wife never remarried and remained a widow the remaining 54 years of her life.
* Robert and Amanda's daughter, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hickman was widowed when her husband was killed over a land dispute in 1892. Lizzie married John J. Stainer on Jan. 1, 1896, in Polk County, Tx.
