* After the death of his wife in 1867, Israel F. Beard married a young widow, Emily Jane Josey, on Oct. 21, 1869, in Polk Co., Texas. Emily was born June 19, 1836, and she died April 16, 1920. Israel and Ann Beard's son, John C. Beard, was killed in battle during the War Between the States. He is buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
