Notes:
* Hansford Alford was an early settler of Florida. He came to the State of Florida in the 1830's with his father, John Alford. Their first recorded land records are in Hamilton County, Florida. Later Hansford and his father removed to Columbia County, Florida which later became part of New River County, then later Baker County, Florida.
* Hansford Alford was elected to the Florida Legislature as a Representative for Columbia County, Florida in 1856.
* He served as a 1st lieutenant in the Second Seminole Indian War in Johnson's Company, Florida Mounted Milita from 1839 to 1840. He also served in Day's and Wilder's Company of the 13th Regiment of the 1st Brigade of the Florida Mounted Militia.
* He was a slave owner, indian fighter, Farmer, State Represtative.
* He was married twice. His first wife was Jincy Mann. After her death he married Louvicy Crosby.
* Hansford Alford was said to have been killed sometime in the 1860's due to his opposition to the Civil War. His death was confirmed in the 1866/1867 tax records where an agent for the wife of Hansford Alford is listed in tax records.
* A memorial government marker was placed in his memory at Swift Creek Cemetery near the graves of his daughters Mary Adeline Alford Roberts and Martha Ann Alford Dobson.
* Hansford Alford and his wives have numerous descendants in Florida.
