Up until 1774 he bought and sold at least six plats in the Cane Creek-Six Runs area. He also owned land on an absentee basis north of Whiteville in Brunswick Co. (later Columbus Co.) which he (or his son David) disposed of as late as 1784. The above from "History of the Fowlers of Southeastern North Carolina" by Richard Gildart FOWLER. (WSH) Daniel FOWLER enlisted in 1776 as a private in the 1st North Carolina regiment, commanded by Col. Thomas CLARK. He was 62 years old at the time of enlistment. D.A.R.
