Charles fought in the Battle of Mansfield, Louisiana and was wounded in the battle of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, 9 April 1864. He taken to the MOSS residence in Mansfield, La., Apr.16, 1864, where the tender care of Miss Sarah Gardner MOSS resulted in their marriage in Mansfield, Aug 4,1864.
