REFERENCES:

1. 1851: Probate of James Porter dated 4-2-1844 lists no wife but heirs, children: Joshua, Joseph, 
Sarah, Martha, and James. Martha and James, minor children, guardian being James Stafford. At this 
time, Joshua acted as attorney for Joseph and took his share. 

2. 1848, 12-7: Probate for Sarah Porter, minor of James Porter, dec'd; Administrated by James 
Stafford; Heirs: Joshua, Joseph, Martha, and James.
   6 June, 1849...Martha and James have James Stafford of Caroline Co, MD appointed as guardian 
(states that they are under 14 at the time) (?so born after 1835)

3. A James Porter married Rebecca FEARNS on 25 July 1835, in Kent Co, DE. Could this be 2nd wife 
of James and Mother to Sarah, Martha, and James? No Rebecca, or any wife, is listed in probates.
	Jesse FEARNS died 7 Jan 1850...will lists wife, Mary, and six children: Rebecca, Jesse, 
Rachael, Emeline, Elizabeth, and Sarah, and granddaughter Sarah Rebecca Richardson, brother 
John...an interest in land with Thomas Fearns from the estate of Thomas Fearns' father...
	so, is this Rebecca the wife of James Jr.?

4. Kent Co, DE land records: 
	1837 - 1839: James Porter and wife, Rebecca... land next to Thomas Baynard 
	1846: Orphan's Court Records, Book Q, page 106
		"...Joshua Porter is the eldest son of James...Joseph the second son...now 
		resides in Park County in the State of Indiana..."...also states that 
		Sarah, Martha, and James are under 21 and in Caroline Co, MD w/James 
		Stafford.
	1846: heirs of James deal with Thomas Baynard to secure land for heirs
   I need to check other land records for descriptions of land...are these others related? 

5. Notes of Ruth Porter Shaw, dau of Marion Porter, and granddau of Joseph Porter, claim wife of 
James PORTER to be Nancy DEAN.

6. Joseph Porter left DE with Daniel Chesum (says Ruth who interviewed Mary Ann Chesum Porter) and 
walked to IN in 1837 : also in BIOGR RECORD, below #9.

7. An Eliza Porter married Tilghman Brown on 29 Oct 1818. James & Mary Porter and Francis & Margaret 
Porter sold land to Tilghman in 1853. I just wonder if this is related at all?  Is Eliza sister to 
James and Francis? Elizabeth listed as dau of John PORTER who died in 1817, also her siblings Mary, 
Edward, John, Francis, and James.

8. A James and his wife, Mary listed in land records after 11-11-1852. Need to check details of 
land descriptions to see if this land is near or same as land in #4. Is this a son of James who 
died in 1817?

9. A BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF CENTRAL KANSAS, 1902; mentions Joseph's mother as related to Henry 
Clay DEAN.

11. James and Rebecca PORTER buried in Hollywood Cem, Kent Co, DE. They are the right age to be the 
son and dau-in-law of James Sr, though this is conjecture on my part for now. I have put in his dates 
in chart above from the cem records...

12. "Renunciation as Administrator": to the Register of Wills of Kent County, I do hereby resign all 
my right of administration on my deceased father James Porter Personal Estate, and I hereby recommend 
Jesse Ferrins (FEARNS?) as a suitable person to settle the same as witness my signature this first 
day of April, 1844...sign with his mark...Joshua Porter...test. Theo H. Baynard.

I do not know if this Martha is dau of James and Nancy.

	I don’t know if she is daughter of James Porter.

15. A Joshua Porter married Margaret Richardson,  4 Nov 1840, Caroline Co, MD 
& Eliza Wingate, 1852, MD.  I do not know if this Joshua is son of James and Nancy.
