Documentation: 1. Copies of the following documents in file: Copy of
the piece of wood on which is written:
"A PIECE OF OUR GRANDFATHER'S SEA CHEST"
"Capt. David Lewis, who enlisted in Boston at the age of twelve; became
a Captain in the Navy.  The chest is marked 1778 when he enlisted.  When of age he got
his discharge, got up a colony in Boston, married a girl of sixteen; then he and the
chest went to the territory of Vermont in 1788.  Went to the legislature twice.  Got up a
military company in Ludlow.  Was one of the first settlers; had twelve children, seven
lived to old age.  He died 1813.
