Documentation: On 1840 Census Union Co, ARK, Franklin Twp; p220; is
listed J. L. Townsend; 1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 30-40: 1 female
-5.  Also next is John Townsend on census.  Union Co, ARK marriage
records list several marriages for Townsends during 1840-50 period. John
R. Townsend married Mary M. Kesterson on 2, April, 1866 in Columbia Co,
ARK; she was the da of Samuel KESTERSON & Eliza GREEN.  John Riley & Mary
M. Townsend are buried at Hope, Ark, Hempstead Co. in Springhill
Cemetery.  John Riley Townsend & family are listed on the 1870 Census in
Pike Co, ARK, p 231; on 1880 Census they are living in Howard Co, ARK,
Muddy Fork Twp. John Riley was the father of 7 children.  Nothing is
known of the other children of James L.? Townsend or how many he really
had or who his wives were.  Marriage Records for Union Co, ARK show a
James L. Townsend marrying Permelia Ann Wiett on 11, Nov, 1855.  No
futher record on James Townsend.
