Notes for John Newton EVANS He died of cirrhosis of the liver. Buried in Epps Cemertery in Shreveport,La next to his wife Ivy Bell Glover. He had his own statuary shop. It was located on Hwy 80 West of Shreveport,La from 1932about to 1954.He had eye problems if he got the dollar close to his face he could tell what it was.It may have been contracts. John Evans knew how to drive and taught his children but he could not drive. His vision was to dad. Mother told me that he got a birth cert. while living out of Shreveport,La. that Rose drove him to Gladewater,Texas to get some one 12 years older than him to test to his age. Notes for Ivy Bell GLOVER She died of T.B. and lived across the road from the TB hospital. I was told that John Evans would not take her there. Another story was that she beloved that prayer would heal her. I do know that she had a brother that was a preacher or it may have been a brother-in-law. I remember going to their home for Christmas just days before she died. I got a little doll for Christmas and left the diaper under the wood heater. She was so skinny. I was taken into the up to the bed from her to see me. It was so sad for a child of five. She did a week later. Sources: 1. From his daughter Fay Evans, many years ago. 2.
