Documentation: L. J. Perry served in Co. A, First Ark. Infantry. He
enlisted 2 May 1861 in Eldarado, Ark. He was on the Roll of Honor for his
heroism at the Battle of Chickamunga on 10 Aug. 1864. He was paroled in
Selma, Dallas Co., Al on 28 May 1865. He died of Congested Chill or TB in
the Fall of 1865. He married the widow of his brother, Horatio Gates
Perry, who was killed in the Battle at Vicksburg on 27 May 1863. After
the death of L. J. his widow, Susan Frances Perry married Thomas Overton
on 27 Dec 1870 in Perry Co., Al. Sources: Census records, Marriage
