1839-Matthew Henry Barlow, son of Joseph Barlow
Matthew chartered a freight car and took his family, possessions, furniture,
teams, farming implements and settled in Warrens Bend, Texas.
He had bought a home in Gainesville and planned on putting the children in
school there at the time of his death.

(From the website of Susan Barlow Holmes)
"A little history of Warrens Bend
My great grandfather Matthew Henry Barlow came to Gainesville Texas sometime
after the Civil War looking for a place to start a farm and
a cotton gin. When he stood on the hill overlooking the Red River, he thought
the area reminded him of his home in Shiloh, Tennessee, so he bought 500 acres
of the land that included the site of the Barlow Cemetery.

My grandfather, J.L. Barlow, at one point owned the land and when he sold it,
donated the Barlow Cemetery land to Cooke Co who maintains the cemetery today."
